Software Engineer [HR7084]

Position Description:

This position will be located at a Naval facility located in Monterey, Ca. The position will be responsible for daily operational management and dissemination of environmental data from an enterprise architecture, requiring software and applications development utilizing primarily JAVA, C, C++ on Linux and Windows based systems. Dissemination of data is accomplished using OGC specifications using XML, GML, HTML, FTP and HTTPS. Architecture is based on a Linux cluster using VMware. File systems includes GPFE & VMFS. This position also requires a working knowledge ofRDBMS' such as Oracle and PostGRES. Operating system certifications Linux+ and Security Certification Security+ICISSP are a plus. Dissemination data is geographic data which encompass raster data in GRIB & netCDF formats, GIS vector and textual data. Currently the architecture is based on GeoServer with the possibility of moving towards ESRI GIS technologies.

Basic Qualifications:

BS Computer Science (Required).
5+ Years of JAVA (J2EE), OOP programming experience (Required).
Familiarity with geospatially enabled raster, vector, and text data (Required).
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance. (Required)

Qualifications:

Experience managing RDBMS with experience using SQL Server desired.
Multi-threaded/concurrent programming expertise required. OOP analysis and design knowledge required.
Knowledge and experience with HTTP and TCP/IP strongly preferred.
XML, HTML, GML processing (JAXP, mOM) experience a plus.
Experience with algorithms a plus.
Experience using geospatial technologies such as ESRI and/or GeoServer is preferred.
Excellent communication skills needed.
Self start ability, time-management, decision-making, and organizational skills a must.
Desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing, dynamic environment needed
Current security clearance of Ton Secret/SCI is highly preferred.
