Position Description:

Serves part time as a Pre-Doc Research Assistant while maintaining student status to perform assigned technical tasks relating to research and development of polymeric composite materials and structures that can operate at increased temperatures without degradation in performance. Work will be in support of the USM High Temperature Polymeric Composites (HTPC) Program.

Responsibilities will include work assignments in support of the HTPC experiments, tests and related materials activities. As a part time employee of Radiance Technologies, the incumbent will be expected to work in conjunction with USM researchers and other team members as assigned.

As a Radiance part time Research Assistant, the employee will work under the guidance of the assigned Radiance Engineer or Scientist who is with the USM/Radiance research team.

Basic Qualifications:

MS in Materials Science, Polymeric Composites or relates science/engineering disciplines (Required).
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance (Required).

Prefer knowledge/experience in development, test, and assessment of polymer composite formulations;
Able to perform technical tasks with guidance and work independently with minimal supervision;
Excellent written/oral communications skills along with the ability to work with other scientists, engineers and technicians.
