Position Description:
Serve as a research scientist investigating new polymeric composite materials as part of a joint research team focused on enhancing, and tailoring polymeric composite materials, structures and formulations in support of high temperature polymer composites and lightweight materials for space and missile defense technology applications. Serves as member of a team working at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) on the development and application of High Temperature Polymer Composites (HTPC). Technical efforts will include preparation of materials, testing for physical and thermal properties, evaluating test results, and reporting findings.
Responsibilities will include oversight and coordination of activities with other scientists, engineers and technicians assigned to support the research. Major work functions will complement the USM efforts including research, fabrication, experiments, test, demonstration, and translation of customer requirements into program solutions
As a Radiance scientist working in Hattiesburg, MS, the incumbent will work with other scientists, engineers and technicians to perform subcontract tasks as the USM Principle Investigator may require. Support other space and missile defense materials related product development and tests at Radiance, other contractor and /or government sites as may be required.
