Position Description:
Job Responsibilities: This hands-on Microbiologist will be responsible for conducting microbiological testing including: prepare and set up samples for analysis, prepare and maintain bacteriological media and chemical solutions, utilizing proper labeling, handling, storage, use, and disposal of solutions, including autoclaved and hazardous waste. Mut be proficient in sterile sampling techniques and sampling process improvements, microbiological trouble shooting / trouble solving. Identify microorganism using Gram stain and microscope examination. Testing and working with B. subtilis vegetative cells and spores. Maintain clean and safe work environment by maintaining aseptic methods and protocols. Document results in notebook and communicate results to the Team. The position entails responsibility for learning the application and evaluation of approved microbiological techniques and methodologies used in sterilization and in preparation of media and reagents for the analytical testing of bacteria. The position will work closely with the laboratory staff and will provide assistance in the daily maintenance of media, reagents, and glassware as well as learning the skills necessary to assist in the daily testing as needed.
Qualifications:
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment, prioritize and multitask. Excellent organizational skills and computer experience. Prior experience working in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Must be detailed oriented and willing to learn new procedures.
